- Solar electric systems convert the sun’s energy into electricity to power your home and/or business. Extra electricity is sent back to the electric grid and your meter runs backwards.
- Solar water heating systems preheat the water in your existing water heater, saving you money on your water heating bill.
Who can go solar?
- Currently anyone who owns a home or building can go solar. The size and type of system depend on your energy needs and depends on the size and orientation you have available for solar equipment.
.What if I rent, live in a multifamily building, or my home is shaded?
- Right now people who rent, multifamily building tenants, and condo owners can go solar via a somewhat complex process that has been done by University Park LLC. Because this process is fairly involved, though, we're working to pass community solar legislation that would make it much easier for anyone to go solar. Visit our petition page to show support for this legislation and/or join our group.
How much does solar cost?
- Not much more than you are currently paying on your utility bill. Sometimes less! There are a number of generous incentives that make it affordable to go solar.
- The cost of adopting solar power (and the resulting savings) depends on your energy use. It also depends on state and federal incentives, tax breaks and grants. We can help you to figure out how to finance, purchase or lease a system.
